 | 03:26 am - It burns when I PvP.... Wow_ladies, I seek guidance. But then again, when don't I?
My boyfriend and I don't get to spend much time playing together (especially now, when my game card has run out and I am moving in a week, but back when I was online...), mainly because I work two jobs and we both enjoy raiding together...but raiding together does REALLY equate playing together, if my rambling makes sense anywhere outside my head.
To that effect, we have decided (for the lolz) to start 2v2ing when I get back in game. I play a Disc Priest, he plays a Prot warrior.
Except I don't really know what I am doing. So...Um. Help?
http://tinyurl.com/qxnkzp That right thar is my current Disc spec. Are there changes that I need to make to it that will prepare me better for arenas and without gimping me in PVE?
Additionally, do you ladies have any tips, pointers, or blogs that you can give me that will help me not to be a complete failure in the arenas? The internet is a scary place, and I don't want to be caught alone in a dark cyber alley with some shady blog.
Oh...and..I haven't really PvPed since my priest was 29, so I don't know what I need to do re: gear. Is my PvE gear acceptable, or should I start saving tokens to buy stuff in Dalaran?
I am trying to read the Disc guide poosted here, but I can't stay in front of the computer long, and it keeps crashing when I try to print. -.- . I'll try to get it to work, but any additional info...... Current Mood: lethargic

| 11:59 pm - News: Apologies from Lar
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/LookingForGroup/~3/VesZQmcU_Ks/index.php http://www.lfgcomic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5512 I swear I am not making this a habit! It's been another bear of a week, and even though it's all been positive, there's been a lot of time burned up driving this weekend as well as other deadlines that needed putting out. Life should be resuming normality starting tomorrow (assuming I'm not coming down with the bug that feels like it's moving into my chest).
Current ETA for LFG is between 2am and 3am ET.
I'm Ustreaming my progress (but not really talking) to apologize once more. I've got some tunes lined up to play as well but don't expect great things. I have very questionable taste in music.

 | 11:15 pm - Bug hunters I like bug hunting, and no, I don't mean silithus :3
wall-walking, geometry climbing, lost grounds, call it whatever you will. I love discovering little cracks in blizzard's finely wrought world, and seeing sights that few rarely are even aware of. There's a thrill to exploring all the places you're not supposed to go. Shatterspear Village, the Elwynn waterfall camp, Old Silithus, the Stormwind wall, Old Ironforge, Hyjal, Gilneas, good times :3.
So it was with great surprise that a friend of mine and I were out pvping when we ran into the most surreal glitch I've seen in 5 years of playing this game. This is legitimately the strangest thing I've ever seen in any MMO. It was completely on accident, and the both of us were equally surprised when it happened.
The short version: My buddy's DK & I were driving off a pesky rogue in the crossroads who had been griefing our level 20 something alts. Someone was attacking Sen'jin Village, so my buddy breaks out his chopper, I hop in his sidecar, and we hauled ass over to senjin, cutting across the ratchet bay toward durotar. As we were path-of-frosting our way across the water, the ratchet/booty bay boat pathed through us. Instead of phasing through us, we became entangled in it's polygons, and were dragged to the other side of the world.
We both laughed hysterically & thought "hmm that was weird". So we tried it again on the boat departing to see if it would happen again.
Upon zoning back to kalimdor, we immediately fell to our deaths through the world, and landed.... in Hammerfell? What?? Our map apparently though that it was still in the barrens, yet the both of us appeared in a completely NPC-less Arathi highlands. we started driving around, and that's when all hell broke lose. That's when it started RAINING MOBS FROM THE SKY.
( this is what happens when you discover a world breaking glitch in WoW )
An alternate title for this entry: "this is what a 200g repair bill looks like".

 | 07:04 pm - Alliance Moonkin colors take 2 Trying to get that Alliance moonkin put together, still can't decide which purple to use. It doesn't help that every time I look up screenshots of you guys they're always taken in places with tinted lighting.
( Okay, so I found those other purple furs I had )

http://www.worldofraids.com/news/976.html Jace Hall Interviews Blizzard
Right before the release of Wrath of the Lich King, Jace Hall visited Blizzard HQ to interview Tom Chilton, Jeffrey Kaplan and J. Allen Brack about World of Warcraft's second expansion. Check out the mockumentary as the EU community team dubs it below!

Quel'Delar Quest Rewards: Something for most, nothing for others? (Source)
The main focus for the Quel'Delar was for it to fit for dps specs. Yes, this excludes tanks but if we added it for tanks then it would probably lead to tailoring for other specs like boomkin (sorry, just an example, not meaning to pick on you) and leads to bloating the rewards more and more than they already are.
Based on my experiences too, a weapon for a warrior or paladin tank isn't quite as much of a lifeblood as it is for dps classes. Try swapping weapons around randomly some time and you will find that almost nobody will notice as long as you stay defense capped and put out good threat.
Of note: Internally we have made a change that removes the mp5 from the main hand mace and changed that to haste to match the sword to make it more dps-worthy.
We wanted as many classes as possible to have the sword graphic. So since hunters can use swords they get an agi sword. The maces are there to make sure we hit the classes who can't use swords.

Shadow Word: Pain and Haste in 3.3 (Source)
We removed Shadow Word: Pain from scaling with haste because we thought Shadow dps was too high with all 3 dots hasted.
There is a bug where you can get big SW:P dots and then keep them rolling at that magnitude forever since the spell gets constantly refreshed. It's a nasty bug to fix. However, that isn't why we removed SW:P from Shadowform.
It's important for classes to want the stats that appear on their gear, but it's not a goal that everyone requires all stats in the same 1:1 ratio. It's a bit unfortunate in the best-in-slot-or-noth
ing mindset of some of our players that the second and third best stats sometimes get labeled as junk even if they still boost dps beyond a non-trivial degree.
Our stance on simulations remains that they can be good tools when used correctly. We will continue to not pay a lot of attention to posts that simply say "Sims say our dps is too low. Please buff." You can't just accept a simulation's estimate of your dps as what you'll actually see on an encounter. Sim output is fundamentally not empirical data -- it is a model; an attempt to imitate what will really happen. Simulations can be really useful for predicting say an optimal talent or gear configuration for your character. Players have learned a lot of things about class mechanics from the better sims out there. "True dps" is not one of them.
Weekend Theorycrafting - S1A2: Shield Mitigation - Block me? Block you!
Fuzzwobble is back with another tanking-related theorycrafting post, this time on Shield Mitigation and how it impacts effective health. Check it out and join in the discussion.
It is time once again to play with some relatively basic math to try and explore the mechanics of World of Warcraft an easy-to-grasp fashion.
Our first series has begun to look at the differences between the 4 primary tanking classes, starting with our first article Stamina: A Balanced Comparison.
Today we will be continuing along this path by trying to calculate and compare blocking between Warriors and Paladins, while trying to keep it relevant to the gear set and previous data.
I know I promised an effective health article this week, but the modified formula I've devised for working out block differences ended up taking up much larger amounts of page space than anticipated. The EH summary will have to wait.

 | 10:39 am - Regarding a Priest I've been levelling my first Priest mostly by questing to this point (Level 52) but am now getting into a few instances with guild members. Up to this point he has been Shadow, but I'm wondering when is the best time to convert to Holy? Also, can anyone recommend the best build for a Priest that does a fair bit of solo as well as the instances?

 | 06:21 pm - Loremaster! :D Back in March, I decided to rep grind, which meant doing a lot of lowbie quests for faction rep. After getting exalted with the horde, I thought to myself, "I've done a fair amount of quests now, maybe I should try for Loremaster."
( Months later, and thousands of quests later... )
For those who did/are doing Loremaster, what part did you hate the most? Blade's Edge for me, since I didn't play in BC and needed to grind the ogre rep and Consortium rep to get the last few quests I needed. I didn't have much trouble with Kalimdor, like I thought I would, but probably only because I somehow had enough Brood rep to start the Scepter chain which opened a LOT of quests. =P
But yeah. As a guildie put it, I have now beaten the World of Warcraft. I need a new goal to undertake... either Insane, or 40 exalted reps, I think. Perhaps both at the same time? :P
Just wanted somewhere to squee, since nobody else ever gets these things. =P

 | 04:11 pm I've been unable to play for the upwards of a week now. It's I upgraded to Battle.net two to three days before the deadline, and I am still getting either 'merge your account' or 'there is no WoW account associated with this account'. I'm really getting sick of it, but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do as when I phone Blizzard I get hung up on, or they say that I have 'connection problems'.
Not only that, but I am continuously getting 'patch has failed to apply' messages, as well. My game is continuously trying to apply the same patch, and has been for three days.
Frankly, it makes me unwilling to pay for another game card when not only is there problems with the brand new account layout that you guys have just implemented, but I can get absolutely NO SUPPORT for the problems caused.
I hope they fix this fast, and I HOPE THEY LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES NEXT TIME.
